Testicular Biopsy is an operative procedure used to obtain sperm by opening the scrotum
and surgically removing some Seminiferous Tubules from the testicle. Open Testicular Biopsy is performed in the operating room under general anesthesia.
Testicular Biopsy is used for men who have had a prior vasectomy and in those who have a congenital or acquired obstruction of the genital tract such as absence of the vas deferens. This technique is often performed when TESA has been unsuccessful. Sperm obtained with Open Testicular Biopsy can only be used with ICSI treatment.

There are certain medications that can cause you problem or risk during the procedure that may include:

  • nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), including aspirin or ibuprofen
  • anticoagulants (blood thinners)
  • any medications that affect blood clotting

In case you need anesthesia during the procedure, ask the experts at our center, and if it is yes that fasting is mandatory where you have to avoid eating and drinking right eight hours before your test.
